NUNO New Stories UPDATE SYSTEM
The MVP is a player that is above all others in their
sport. Our beloved daily newspaper during the high
school basketball season ran up the hype as who
each week they kept telling us who the MVP was.
In the end they changed their vote "oh please
LMT your killing us".
The last game between Laredo Martin and
Laredo Alexander in their last district game.
Showed that a MVP is someone that is missing
from the game will cause their team to fight to
win. It was obvious Alexander had such a MVP in
Andrew Hall and the Tigers had Kike Moya.
The poll Lrd Sports Wire and 956 Sports
conducted showed the fans saw a different
basketball than the media with their selection of
Andrew Hall.
You also can not allow post season to be
included in the process or have a take on the
selections. That is how it is done everywhere
else but not at LMT.
11 years ! Most go back 5 years at the most
10 years. LMT went back 11 years to say that a
Laredo high school basketball team had recent
success reaching regionals 3 times.
Well, no. Going back beyond a decade does
not make sense. It was not the same era, the
same team, or the same coaching staff that
reached regional. At best in the story they
should have given the public the years and the
out come of those three appearances.
In the end within that extended period of time only
one Laredo high school basketball team have
won a game at the regional tournament. That
has been only Alexander.
No Laredo team has won regional since
Laredo Martin did in 1957 and that was the
year they won state.
Confused us is all that happened with less than
objective reporting placed by the LMT story.
The LMT story this morning reminded us in why they felt they could tell us
wearing Orange was a great night. That comment cemented our concerns.
In the end again we did not get the final regular season stats on the MVP LMT
first selected. This new story allowed LMT to sneak in a new name they did not
have as MVP (Co MV) in Andy Fernandez when they first came out with their
all city selection.
I am sure they got a few phone calls why they missed the obvious that there
were three players having a banner year they did not have in their first list.
A la otra maybe they will learn that the MVP selection is best left to be
announced when the regular season is over. Justifying and over correcting is
what we got this morning from the daily. We can not wait to see how they do
baseball.
Since most of us know a little bit more about baseball. There should be a
MVP and a BEST PITCHER and not the same. That is why universities and
MLB have the two awards. One for MVP one for the best pitcher.
As for El PUEBLO we will let them vote as we did in basketball. After all they
are the ones who pays the bill for everyone.
The little basketball we know !!! The best cross over jumper in Laredo
belonged to Rosas and everyone in Laredo knows that. Now we see the over
correction on the story this morning. It was great reading and the amount of
