For Profit Websites Trying To
Take Over High School Sports
By Nuno Sciaraffa for Lrd Sports Wire & 956
Sports Laredo
The times are changing and sometimes they are not for the
betterment of the local high school sports teams. Locally in
Laredo, Texas the addition of several for profit websites are
popping up everywhere. Seems like anyone with a digital
camera are hoping
to make money off high school sports in Laredo has become
the largest growing sector of the economy in Laredo.
Lrd Sports Wire has had this conversation with both AD at
UISD and LISD in the past year. While no has the right to
stop anyone from earning a living. The use of campuses at
both school districts for profit ventures by private companies
has not been allowed at both schools. More when the schools
do not get a penny from the profit making. READ MORE PW

We will be following a baseball player all
season from high school. While we may
at times secure an interview with the
athlete. We will address the issue of how
the family deals with the getting their son
to accomplish school and baseball at the
same time. We will go into detail on how
the recruiting process works and in the
end we expect to show . How tough it is
to make it to a NCAA Div 1 , II, III
schools . Even with all the talent in the
world it does not always work.
The last four players from the Laredo
area given a baseball scholarship were
pitchers. One only to a NCAA Div One.
That is a start on how hard it is to get in.

TENNIS NEWS & UPDATES
Calallen baseball program has a history of winning
districts and state titles . They have placed numerous
players in the college ranks and have placed several to the
Major League.
Tonight the Mustangs sent to the mound senior pitcher
Emilo Compean to try and get the first district win in a
very tough district. Also Coach Colin has senior pitcher
Cesar Mata ready to come in if Compean got in trouble.
Which he did use in the 6th inning to try to calm down the
explosive Calallen bats.
Before the storm I got a chance to speak with Coach Colin about the game with Calallen. While he liked the
fact he was facing them in the first game out in district. The out come was not what he expected. But for five
strong innings his vision of Mustang ball was perfect.
There is no tougher baseball team to face than Corpus Christie area Calallen High School. Year in and year
out Calallen placed their baseball team in the playoffs.
Coach Colin went on to say "I want to play little ball and get one run an inning as I told the team get a run
in each inning and you will win many games". The first five inning Compean held Calallen to one unearned
run. The Mustangs did just as Coach Colin wanted. In the second inning the lead off hitter JJ Bustamante
got on an error. The next batter Coach Colin had Jose Ledesma but down the 3rd base line and the pitcher
could not do anything but throw to first.
Now the Mustangs had a runner at second with one out. Perfect set up to how Coach Colin wants his team
to work each game. The only issue was that Calallen left starter Josh Zustnzilly came through with a strike
out on the next batter Benito Renterria and a simiple back to the pitcher to first on the next batter Luis Reyna.
The frame work was there the Mustang players were getting to understand how coach Colin wanted to play
the game. With a freshman catcher Edwardo Zepeda starting and a sophomore second basemen in JJ
Lascano you have a very young Mustang team learning to play together and learning to play to win.
